Stopped by the local provisioner this afternoon looking for my Friday night treat and spotted Steinlager, Pure New Zealand Beer. Not the absolute best I've ever had, but pretty tasty.

What do the home folks think?

Come to think of it someone gave me some called "Dirty Ba*tar* that was brewed somewhere in Michigan. It was that bad that I could not categorise it as beer !!!!

Before you give up on Michigan beer, try some Bell's. A little pricey, IMO, but good stuff.

I have yet to find a "bad beer"

I got a "skunky" Red Stripe once. It smelled rotten as soon as I opened it. I couldn't bring myself to taste it. But barring one that's spoiled, I guess anything is better than nothing if you have a taste for one. It's getting to be about that time of year for me too.

Sure is. C'mon visit kalamazoo and visit their brewery and pub -- about 5 miles from my house.

I've heard this year's Oberon is about to be released.

Been out of touch with Stienlarger for a while now, but a few years back, it was the No1 beer in the world, year after year.
Not sure who or how it was judged.
Comes in 2 types: what we call 'green' and 'blue' (distinguished by the colour of the label)
'blue was a 'fair' price, 'green' rather expensive.
Come to think of it, I have never seen the 'blue' exported.
I always liked the 'green', but I refuse to pay the price they want at the local bottle shop. Probably why they never sell it by the 'slab', but in fancy 6 pack boxes.
A 'slab' is the price of a reasonable bottle of whiskey, and that gives more bang for your bucks.
For me, XXXX is the beer, (we call it XXXX as Aussies can't spell beer)
Cheers

When visiting Hobart I was introduced to Victoria's Bitter by some of the locals, that was some good beer.

Only there for four days, glad I went back out to sea. Longest four day drunk I ever had.

Wost beer ever tasted was in Mambosa Africa, dark nasty and served warm. dont remember if it had a name, no label on the brown bottle, glad the lay over was only a few hours.
