drive id?

Got this outdrive with an everyone a few years back. Going to sell it, wondering what it is. Looks like a 1/R, but no eye hook and no fins at the vent hole. I measured it as 1.87 drive ratio, which I guess is actually 1.84...which means I may want to keep as another spare (spare #1 is 1.98 with a big prop). No lube in it, though it seems to shift and spin. Can't find my pressure testing rig atm, but I guess that's the next step.

Ayuh,.... Looks like an Alpha 1 to me,....

To me it looks like an Alpha One upper mated to an MC-1 lower. Not a good combination since the lower was the weak part of the MC-1.

Top R,MR,Alpha , the lower with the rounded end may be a MC1 , square ends are R,MR, Alpha

Neither the top nor bottom are alpha I don't think. Hard to tell from that pic, but the upper is also more rounded than an alpha. The MR uppers were identical to the alphas, right?

There is absolutley no difference in the upper housings between R, MR and Alpha One. Apart from the different gear sets for the ratios, not even the internals vary. So the upper could be any of R, MR or Alpha One. If there is a serial number on it, that is the only way to date it....

The lower is definitely an MC-1 (rounded anti cav plate), and with plastic inserts in the water intakes, that makes it after serial number 3900000 (roughly)... About 1973...

So, upper is 1982 to 1991, lower is ~1973 to 1981...

The cavitation plates on the upper are different from the alphas I've seen. The fore end is round on the mystery drive
