Drive Shaft Seal

Got a question about replacing the drive shaft seal on a 1988 50 hp. What is the easiest way to get that seal out. I need to replace it because it has a tear in it and I am getting water in my lower unit. What about replacing the shift rod seal since I have the lower unit down. I have replaced the impeller.

Yes change it while it's apart.
FK1074 seal kit. $17

Just be careful when taking that seal out of the housing.
Use a good sealer when reinstalling and don't get too much in there.
​It can get on the shaft goop it up and cause trouble after a while.
