Couple suggestions.
Antique Outboard Motor Club has a bunch of links on their site, and they have a webvertise site to lcate parts for sale
http://www.aomci.org

Twin City Outboard in Minneapolis has 6 acres of motors to get parts from.
http://www.twincityoutboard.com/

Re: Drive shaft

RoughRider.... The OMC part number of the driveshaft you need is 379876. I have one left in my remaining stock. If you have a problem locating one, contact me via my e-mail address. (ReevesJ32@aol.com)

Re: Drive shaft

RoughRider,
Some of those era OMCs had chrome on the drive shaft where the waterpump seal rides. Water sits on top of the seal and can cause corrosion on the shaft. It pits the chrome and eventually makes the chrome flake...just like corn flakes! Beware of this problem and check that location for pitting if you buy a used driveshaft.

How do I know? It happened to me on an 1965 75V4 Johnson. I wanted to replace the drive shaft because that seal was lasting only a few hours from the pitting. There were no new driveshafts available and all the used ones had the same problem. I ended up taking it to a machine shop. They actually melted the existing chrome and moved it over the flaked area. Then turned and polished it back to looking new. It made a perfect surface for the seal and worked great.
