A guy I work with snapped his, locally you have to evidently buy the whole rear end assembly for that model at junk yards? Any good source that has just the axle shaft?
Thanks

Has he checked on ebay? I had to buy an axle shaft a couple of years ago for my Jeep and that was the only place I could find one without buying the whole assembly..

Look at car-part.com it's an online salvage yard directory. You can search for the specific part, find the salvage yard, buy it, and have them ship it to you.

With the recent cash for clunker's I would image there are a few to be found in the salvage yards.

Was the Sub a Z-71? It might be worth the investment to get the whole rear end (I would opt for the Z-71 which has the Locker in it)and not have to worry. I have broken 1 ton axles in a F 350 ....... first the left then a month later the right. I would do the axles as a pair.

try lmc light truck. bought one for my rig from them, fit like the factory origonial. only thing i had to do was press out the lug studs from the old one and put them in the new one.

front or rear? if rear then there is no difference between 2 or 4 wheel drive for the rear end. and gear ratio doesnt matter on the axle. what does matter is the spline count, i.e half ton vs 3/4 ton for example. a 3/4 ton would be beefier with a higher spline count where the axle slides in and engages the carrier gears (differential)
