Re: Driving pet peeve

Not much traffic out here in the boondocks, But I hate it at night when thier are only 2 cars on the road and one is the city slicker that thinks he has to ride your bumper for company. if they had balls enough to run 80 to catch up with me, then have the cahonies to go ahead and pass and quit blinding me with thier headlights. After about 5 miles of this I have been known to feed them some high speed breaking manuvers.

What Bart Sr. said +
On Long Island (NY) in typical rush hour traffic jams, there are these bright AH's that use both the Exit and Entrance ramps as passing zones. Like they found a new lane. It's like your on line at a check-out counter and these greedy self centered baste*** walk alongside the line to the next person served position. It makes me rather crash than let them into lane. (I will always let a vehicle just entering have a chance.) The only satisfaction is in the very rare circumstances that the red and blue lights start flashing.

Feels better now, thanks.

My is people who don't realize that they have a thing called A FREAKING CRUISE CONTROL in their car. :|:| They get on a 2 lanes highway and just speed up, slow down, and repeats the whole way. I called these pedal jockies.
Ain't that the freaking truth!

I also think anyone over the age of 60 should be required to take a drivers test each month until they fail it!

Don't get me started on little O'le men that can't see farther than 20 feet driving 20,000 lb death machines. (called Motor Homes) :)

You guys would hate me.. just because the sign says the Max speed limit is 35 mph.. doesn't mean you have to go that fast!
I like 20-25 mph in town.
And I know other drivers like my driving also.
They are always waving at me as they speed past me! :)

My biggest peave is when people pull into the merge lane pass a bunch of cars and then expect to merge back into trafic.
The day time running lights you guys are talking about in Canada do save lives. It rates up there with seat belts in my books. The bad thing about them is when your out hunting in the morning or trying to sneek home at night
you cant turn them off:devil:8)

There must be 100 just like you in my town, 20 MPH in a 30. What I like to do is pass them and immediately slow way down to turn into the store.... hey, they're not in a hurry.

A couple of my pet preeves is.

On my morning commute, there is one entrance ramp that comes into the fast lane side, and another that exits from the fast lane side. Most of the people merging will not get up to at least the speed limit of 70 mph, while most people in the fast lane are going in excess of the speed limit. Than the ones exiting seem to think that they need to start to slow down what seems like miles from the exit.

The other is when someone in the fast lane will speed up to warp speed to get ahead of you than slow back down again. Than do the same again when you catch back up to them.

LOL
I'm not surprised that you got it.
It really doesn’t bother me when I get behind a person
driving 20-25 mph in a 35 mph zone in town.
I just go around them. Don’t have the urge to “Wave at them” :)
But most others do! See it all the time.
And I think that is the head-set they must have 
“They Waved” ack…
Most of them old fart drivers don't really see which finger..they just see a hand waving. :)
And we got lots of them around here also.

Maybe if I'm lucky enough I'll be one also some day!

On more than one level that’s a scary thought also! 8)

Re: Driving pet peeve

I encounter every type of peeve you guys have posted, and I agree. The slow guy in the fast lane, try a school bus (state law sets the max at 50mph) around here they run 60+ in the passing lane and then back down to 50 when the lane ends or are in the left lane (had them in both lanes more than once) on the four lane sections. But my biggest pet peeve is the rectal units who seem to think that their fog lights are required because it makes their car/truck/van look cool, or perhaps is it that they must be on to make them a competent driver? I have yet to have anyone explain a justifiable reason for fog lights in any circumstance where there is other traffic around, even in fog although that is their intended use. Fog lights don't let you see any farther or better when there is traffic in front of you or oncoming. Fog lights only make it harder for others to see, and that decreases safety. And with so many trucks, a few vans and a couple car models with fog lights that are actually brighter than the headlights, itcan really be a safety issue. And by Michigan law, endangering others' person or property is careless driving, and that is exactly what these fog light morons are doing. But fog lights make them better drivers, and makes their vehicles look cool and that is all that matters, note the heavy sarcasm.
Just so there is no question, I have fog lights on my Blazer, and I routinely drive with my fog lights off, unless there is a rectal unit in front of me with theirs on. they are wired up so one switch works only with the headlights (either lo or hi beams) and another switch turns on the fog lights and bright lights (low beams are on normally). Curious thing, when I turn mine on for oncoming traffic (with theirs' on) I typically get brighted, and that's where that second switch comes in . Guess what, my fogs don't go off with my brights:|, instead all my lights go on, low beams are normal, fogs and high beams by the auxilliary switch. Seems it's OK for them to drive with their fog lights on but I can't :%, hence the rectal unit moniker. I have never heard or found any excuse for fog lights in traffic besides arrogance or ignorance, which seems to be the underlying characteristic of all your pet peeves, and mine.

Thanks for letting me vent.....

Here's one that has nothing to do with other drivers. It's the traffic signal that turns red as you approach. So you stop and sit there while not one single car even approaches the intersection.

I have a million cp spotlight I keep in the farm truck for locating lost stock. Not really. Its used mainly for people that tailgate or run their bright lights. It'll get their attention everytime.

HEY!! We have those intersections around Traffic City, er ah I mean Traverse City. I travel through one every day. I swear it is a sensor light set to stay green until you round the curve just before it and then it goes to yellow (and then red of course). I have tried traveling the speed limit from the previous light, I've tried 5 over and 10 over, even 5 under, and yep everytime, Traffic just rounds the corner 50' before and BAM! yellow it is. Seems so stupid.
A year or so ago Paul Harvey mentioned a Texas A&M study that showed stop and go traffic decreased fuel consumption (big surprise that was) but the point was if municipalities could time their traffic lights on main thoroughfares it would help conserve gasoline. In Lansing, MI, there is one stretch that if you get a light green and travel at exactly 5 over the speed limit you will get every light green for the length of the road. Now wouldn't that be a n effective traffic calming measure? But hey who am I, I'm just some stupid motorist( I know that will come back to haunt me sometime:}), not a perfect genius traffic engineer.
