When a boat has the listed dry weight, what is this a weight of? Is it the hull without the engine? The reason I ask is I know they can change the engine to a much heavier weighted engine and then what do the mfg's do? Do they recertify for each individual engine?

Yes, the dry weight will be different with different engine options.

It is also minus any liquids like fuel, water and oil as well as any gear such as life jackets, fishing tackle, batteries, etc.. Gas = 6 lbs/gallon so a full 100 gallon tank can amount to 600 lbs.

Re: Dry weight?

Dry weight usually does not include any accessories or bolt ons either.
They also usually list the dry weight with the smallest engine.

For outboards the weight is w/o an engine or any accs.

when I last looked it it, brunswick (more like the hundreds of brands under it) DID include engine weight in the dry weight listed. Might be different now though.

Was that for an outboard model or an IO model? If it is so for their outboards I'll have to research it to see how they do it considering the unlimited number of variable choices one would have in outboard brands and sizes that any one hull could be equipt with.

For instance, look at the boats that Bass Pro Shop carries, They will list a model at a base price with a minimum HP engine and then list the same hull with upgraded engine choices.
