Went to test my boat out today which has been sitting for a year plus and i noticed when i run it wide open and let off the gas real fast i hear a chirping noise in the motor area. what could that possbily be? Thanks and glad sping is here.
Forget VRO.. that is Johnson/Ev land. If your engine hasn't been run for a year or so you need to get the carbs cleaned out. The Chirping you hear is very characteristic of a lean condition on those motors which means you have at least one carb partially clogged and you WILL blow a cylinder if you keep running it. Put the key away until you get the carbs cleaned or you will regret it.
Yeah the oil for mixture if full.i topped it off b4 i went.for the carbs i cleaned them myself but im not a carb man either lol, well i guess i will take to some1 that knows more about rebuilding them. what sucks is not alot of people in this area works on Suzuki for some reason but i will find someone. Thanks 4 help.
That setting is a starting adjustment, what works for one motor may not work for another, plus there is the altitude and temperature to consider.
When you cleaned the carbs, did you remove the jets and soak them in carb cleaner? Did you spray all of the tiny orifaces with compressed air and make sure they were clear?
cool on 1 turn i never messed with the adjustments on the water but i will. as far as cleaning the jets i did not soak them i just sprayed them real good with carb spray and used air hose to blow them off, they didnt seem to be clogged or the best i could tell. i did not install a kit i just removed everything and cleaned.Having the adjustment set to 1 1/2 turns making it to lean will that casue engine to chirp like that? I never noticed the chirp when i backed off the throtle very slow its only when im running it wide open and go directly to netural that it would chirp. The enging seemed to be running fine other than the chirping noise. But if you guys thinks carbs need rebuilt i will have that done by someone thats knows more about it than me ..Thanks
should i try resetting the carb adjustments b4 taking to the shop? like i said i have them set to 1 1/2 turns out and by this not being set correctly would that cause the chirping also? thanks
