On some of these double line fittings, the brass hose nipples screwed in. It is just a matter of unscrewing the nipple, and everything comes out the back. If you have the fitting with cast in nipples, a simple way is to make up a small stiff wire hook, like a crotchet hook, and pull the O-ring out. Just be careful you don't scratch, or gouge the brass sealing surface. It is an easy matter to stuff the new ring back in. I replaced a lot of them this way.

You get the replacement o-rings from iboats or a dealer, Bill.

There are several tricks for removing the old ones. My favorite is a crochet hook, but a watchmaker's spring hook works, too.

Good luck. :)

EDIT: I'm a little slow on the draw tonight. Sorry.

The brass retainers that hold the o-rings in place are pressed into the face of the fitting and will press out. I use a piece of drill rod, inserted from the hose barb end to press out the brass retainers. Don't tap them out - press them out. I made up a small wooden jig that I can use in my bench vice to punch them out. Simply reinstall everything and press the retainers back in again. Might take me 10 minutes to redo one if I'm particularly slow that day....
- Scott

Chinewalker's advice is good, I hooked mine out the first time and squeezed the new ones back in, seemed to go in easy but I must have damaged them doing it, within a very short time they had split.
I made the simple press described and did it properly the second time, it takes just minutes including making the press, allows the new rings to be replaced without damage, and also the opportunity to clean out any accumulated crud in the connector.

Daviet,

My connector is model number 301823 the casing in the manual you mentioned is different. Will the O rings be the same from connectors to connectors???

Go to that same website and look up your engine and locate the part number for your engine. I think all the double line tanks use the same o-rings.

This is a 6 year old thread, tomboat, and you have done what we call a hijack on it.

Please start you own thread.
