I am just finishing building a Devlin designed one man duck boat. I used 1/4" tongue and groove 1x4s for the decking material. Will 2 coats of epoxy and a couple of coats of paint prevent any leaks from the top decks, or should I also fiberglass the top decks? I used Titebond III glue all the edges of the planking, and will put at least two coats of epoxy and paint on the underside of the decks before I attach the bottom.

oops!

Re: duck boat

hi.....welcome, im confused???????
have you laid the deck or not.

epoxy and paint will be fine for 5-10 years......you want longer?......glass it and gellcoat it......25 years.

hope that helps

Yes, the decking is on, the only thing left to complete the boat's construction is putting the foam flotation in and the plywood on the bottom. I did not use the stitch and glue method, I framed it instead.
