Duel Alternator's

Has anyone ever seen a duel alternator setup on a single engine?<br /><br />I remember years ago, reading something about a duel alternator, one just for the engine, the other to run all the extra's and keep a charge on the house batteries.<br /><br />This would be great on my small cruiser. As the engine battery is one type and house keeping is a deep cycle. and running an invertor, radio's, GPS and stuff never seems to get a full charge.

You can install an Isolator and the same alternator will charge both(all) batteries, yet keep each battery separate to perform it's task independent of the other(s).

Ok, can you recommend a link where I can see a good setup employing an Isolator?
