THAT OLD SAYING APPLIES HERE "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DONT FIX IT" I HAD A FEW EXTRA MINUTES YESTERDAY BEFORE TAKING IT OUT, SO I DECIDED TO TWEAK THE ENGINE A BIT, AN 87 125 HP FORCE. I JUST GOT A MANUAL AND WAS CHECKING A FEW THINGS OUT.I WAS CHECKING THE CARBS TO SEE IF THEY WERE IN SYNC. I FOUND THEY NEEDED TO BE SYNCHRONIZED. FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS, AND NOW I WISH I WOULD OF LEFT THEM UN SYNCHRONIZED. PUT THE BOAT IN THE WATER, THE IDLE WAS SO LOW IT WANTED TO STALL. IT SHOOK AT SPEEDS IT NEVER HAD BEFORE,AND IT SEEM TO BOG DOWN WHEN I WOULD THROTTLE UP.TO TOP IT ALL OF IT SOUNDED WEIRED.CAN ANY ONE GIVE ADVICE?, OTHER THAN NEXT TIME LEAVE IT ALONE.
THANKS

Re: DUMB MOVE

Hey Swainde, About the only suggesiton I could make with the info provided is to start from scratch.....i.e., do the sync procedure again, closely following the instructions in the manual. :)
Backlash

Re: DUMB MOVE

If you messed with the idle mixture adjustment, you may want to readjust those.

I did nearly the same thing to find out I had my mixture screw turned 1/2 a turn or more to the rich side (after a carb cleaning).

My symptoms were hard starting, rough, low speed idle, and it dies on acceleration unless I really goose it.

I turned the screw to lean in my driveway and smoothed right out. OOPs..
