If you look at the back of the boat, you will see how it forms a V at the bottom. The higher the degree of dearise, the more pronounced the V is. A deep V is good for handling and speed through rough water, but is more difficult to bring up on plane, requiring more power to do so. A shallow V comes up on plane much easier requiring less power, is generally faster, but is uncomfortable in rough water and does not handle hard cornering at speed as well as a deep V. What do you plan on using the boat for?
