Hi Guys, Havn't been by for a while, started new project and was hoping for some info on rebuilding my 1984 johnson 70, I was thinking there was an adults only sticky here with manuals and tech info, can't seem to locate it though. Thanks in advance for the help, I'll be in and out a lot on this project I expect, 1984 Harris Flote Boat 280 with 70 HP Johnson, with low comp on top cylinder.

thanks for the reply, not sure why I couldn't find it, but anyway guess I'm gonna need to locate a "factory" service manual for that motor, suggestions on where to find one of those would be the next question I guess.

Look on ebay for used OEM manuals. You can usually get one at a very good price compared to what the new ones go for.

Re: Dumb? Question, Adults only section

OK, good advice, I see some good deals on Ebay for oem manuals but hard to find specific year (1984) I see 1980 and several others close. I guess my question would be is there a year range that will work or do I need to hunt down specific year? Found one that says its for J70ELCS (1980) and mine is J70ELCRD (1984), is that the same manual just year specific?

OEM shop manuals are model year specific. Get the right one.

Google Ken Cook, he sells factory manuals. As wilde1j said, use your model number to get the correct manual.
