How bad would it be to only bored one cylinder. 30 over and leave the other two?

money... have to bore one due to minor scoring, but with the cost of pistons in this economy... I only ask because the old man behind the napa counter (who was trying to sell me) tried to scare me that my motor would "shake itself apart" if I didn't have them bore all three at $50 a hole. Add to that two more pistons at about $100 a pop plus shipping and well....

Start at .010 over for minor scoring.At .030 you'r in the area.should I rejet or not?Some say yes, some say no.
At .010 It can be done again.Once U hit .030 that"s about as far as U can go.J

The engine will NOT shake itself apart! It will NOT even notice that one cylinder has been bored. One cylinder at .030 over will not even give an extra 1 cubic ince displacement. So go ahead and bore only one cylinder. HOWEVER: Be certain to fix whatever caused the cylinder to score. Usually it is a lean running carb. Failure to make certain that all three carbs are set correctly OR --in the case that your engine has one carb-- that the carb is set correctly will result in another scored cylinder and wasted money.

Search posts for carb setting, then clean and set them after the engine is rebuilt.
