loaned my little boat to a friend while I was working on/ trying out and having fun in my big one. He has had it quite a while (since last season) and went to go out today and it would not start. I fiddled with it some and got it running at idle speed but add any throtle and it dies. I then thought about the problem and asked him how often he had been starting it. He said "Starting it?" "I parked it in the fall and left it till today." He was serious. I know there must be gas gum frol heck in the carbs and other places. Since I am not a mechanic is there a dummy way to solve this or do I need to take it to "the man"? He is a decent fellow and does good work cheaper than anyone else and is honest as anything. Tell me the truth and i know stupid me but I feel a boat not being used is a waste and I would have trusted this buddy with anything but now I know better.

You could try fresh gas and some carb cleaner in the tank. Couldnt hurt.

Don't blame your friend. It's allomost for sure, bad fuel. Things you can do before taking it to 'the man'. Drain and clean the fuel tanks, fuel lines and carb bowls, and fill with fresh mix.<br />When you squeeze the primer bulb, make sure no gas is escaping from the carb.

I will try it. It could be I bet he was using old gas too I never thought of that. Cheap fix although I will drain the oil tank too (oil injection).
