Hey mates, need some help for a toad down under. Ross Patti (roscoe11) has not been able to log onto iboats since the server change. Could you post how you are doing this and I will copy and paste the instructions and send them to him. He misses this forum terribly. Thanks for any help you or anyone else can give.

I emailed Phillip about a week ago and he was having problems logging on then also, worse than the last time. I think Dunaruna helped him before... might have to give him a refresher course.

Thanks CN, maybe by rewording the subject we'll get a little more help.

[colour=blue]Kiwiphil hasn't been able to logon for a few weeks now.

iboats are blocking certain regions (se Asia), Australia is caught up in the block.
I circumvent the block by using an anonomous proxy server. This technique works about 75% of the time. Basically, it hides my location from iboats.

There are hundreds of websites that list anonomous servers, most are free but all of them are only temporary - need to change them regularly. Sometimes, you need to try half a dozen before you find one that works.

Change your manual proxy settings to one of the anonomous ones. Right now, I'm using '209.11.51.41 port 80'.

In mozilla firefox it's easy to do, don't know about ie6.

This is the site I use the most to find anonomous proxies but if you google the subject, you will find tons -

QC uses a different method which I don't fully comprehend, maybe he will chime in and explain.

When I am down under like I am now I set my connection to the company's Virtual Private Network (VPN) to run all Internet stuff through the company server. I could easily walk you thru this, but it would only work if you had a server somwhere outside of these really scary places . . . It is basically what Bananarama (Sorry Aldo ;) ) does except that I don't have to borrow a server, we already have one that shows up as being from the states.

Thanks guys, I will let him know. I emailed him yesterday to see if he wanted to use his personal email address for this. If he does then I will post it here and Aldo or Bananamana (that was pretty funny) or QC can send him a note and walk him through it. I know that he will appreciate it. Thanks again mates.

Ross told me to thank you guys for your replies. He is a little hesitant to use his personal email address on the web. I copied and pasted what you all said, giving credit to who posted what, and he has mate that is going to come over this weekend and see what he can do with the information you offered. If something changes I will post again on this thread. Thanks again.
