hi I have an 87 bayliner fish and ski and was interested in using durabak coating as the top coat (smooth texture) I plan on using white ,has anyone had any luck with this product? .Does it get soft in the heat ?,and does it begin to smell when sitting in the sun ? .

As I understand it, durabak coating is pretty much just pickup truck bed liner. Should be no problems there.

Coat the hull?? Is that what you are asking?

Guess you could,, but I can't think of why you would want to.

It offers more water protection that standard paint, but it will wear just as much if you use it under foot and will be more expensive to touch up the wear spots.

I'm curious as to what kinda weight these liners would add to the boat?

I know from looking at Line-X (the more $$ version) in the bed of a truck, its very thick. But i would think the DIY types wouldn't be bad at all.

I was thinking above the rail and inside,I ground out the cracks and filled and thought the durabak would hold up better then paint and also makes it sort of non slip also

look at Kiwi Grip. I'm using it on my floors and it seems to be holding up well

Thx for the info. Another option i see. Prices per gallon look a little higher than something like Herculiner... but nice

I'm curious how much a gallon would cover, of this type of stuff. I want to cover the deck of my 17' boat, and also the tub of my TJ...wondering if more than a gallon would be needed

I did my boat with 3/4 of a gallon, (see my restoration thread) the nice thing about this stuff, is that it is less abrasive than herculiner, so if you fall on it, you won't be leaving skin behind.

So for boat floors it is good stuff, i'm not sure how it would hold up in the tub of your tj.. for that i'd probably use the herculiner though it may be just fine.
