I am wondering if anyone can give me feedback on the Duralast large group 29 battery as a trolling battery. Here are the specs on the battery:

Part #29MDC-1
• 700 CA
• 875 CCA
• 210 RC

I will be using the battery in a 24 volt capacity. I will use 2 of the batteries to power a Minn Kota Maxxum 74 lb. trolling motor. I will be changing the batteries in a few days and these are available at my local Autozone. If I need to shy away from these batteries, PLEASE POST! Any experiences that you may have had with these batteries will be greatly appreciated. ( Good or Bad. )

Thanks in advance,
Wayne G.

Re: Duralast Battery.

Seeing that it is a deep cycle battery and you are going to be using a trolling motor with a maximiser on it, I see no problems using the Duralast battery.
They are as good as the other's and a 3 year warranty goes with them.

I have had good luck out of the Duralast auto batteries and I figure the Deep cycles would be good also.
Just my .02 worth.

Re: Duralast Battery.

I've had some issues with the couple that I've got hooked up as the starting batteries, but I haven't figured out exactly what's up yet. A few days ago when I went out, one was almost totally dead and the other was mostly so. They wouldn't turn my engine over, so I had to hook up my trolling batteries to get the engine to start.

I thought my my alternator just wasn't charging them enough to maintain charge, which may be the case, but it's taking forever to bring the near-death one back to full charge on my home charger.

They're pretty new (maybe a year), so we'll see what comes of it, and I'll let you know. It may take too long for you though, as I keep the boat 45 miles from my house and it takes me a while to get all this stuff done.

OTOH, I've always used oen in my toyota truck and have *never* had a problem.
