Flywheel weight has nothing to do with prop sizes.. prop size is related to hp/torque delivered to prop. Also remember at there is a gear ratio in this formula, as a 200hp motor with a 2:1 ratio may turn a 24 pitch prop on a 18ft boat but a 1:1 speedmaster unit installed it will only turn a 12 pitch to get the same speed.

A flywheel is also referred to as a harmonic balancer to offset/dampen the firing of the cylinders.
Sure you could remove it, or shave on it. But idle will be shaky rough, and who knows what the harmonics would do through the power band. The word shrapnel comes to mind...

"If you take away the smooth harmonics of a motor, you might get a real head banger song"

You need to think 2 stroke as 4 stroke principals do not apply to a outboard motor. Racers use a lightened flywheel or no flywheel took get the advantage of the quick response but this is for a limited time/distance.

Do not forget the props they use and installation heights as well as boat type, 'power to weight' and a few other things!!
