NO harm , i don't see any problem doing it ,it worked for me:my
My advantage is when the water comes out I know my thermostat is working , now other will say you crazy , you can see the water coming out the 2 holes in the leg as a indicator, i can not take that for granted , because the hot water from thermostat merges with the cold water coming out the poppet valve hole in the cover then going 2 ways one hole for the 2 holes in the leg the other hole to exhaust ,
You can fit a **** hole in the thermostat cover , 2 ways you can do this .
1.] I closed the thermostat hole up where the water gonna go out into the cover [this is done for my radiator conversion k ]to merge with poppet valve water where the 2 green wires cross that,s were they merge then goes out through the holes in the bottom of the block , the hole with the blue wire goes to the 2 holes in the leg , the hole with the green wire goes to exhaust if you want to know how to close the hole up , you will see i photo no 4 where i closed the hole , ask
2.] you don't have to close the hole up , i did this , to get the water to go to radiator , all you do is drill small hole in the cover & tap a thread in fit a fitting the smaller the better ,now you will see 2 fittings & 1 hole , you just need to drill 1 hole , in the thermostat half of the cover .
