Hi all. I'm in the process of fine tuning my merc 228 ('80). The points are within range, the timing is at 8 btdc but I don't have a dwell meter to confirm the dwell. Is there a way to check dwell without a meter? Also, does anyone know what the centrifugal timing should be and at what rpm?

Agree 100%, You can buy a cheap analog volt/ohm meter w/dwell setting at your local auto parts store that will work for what you need.
