My dad has a 73 PennYan with an OMC 250 hp (350cid). Believe it or not, the boat still runs a looks great, most of the time. We lost the owners manual a few years ago. It is now missing at cruising speed. I want to change the points and condensor. Does anyone know the gap and dwell? It has a Mallory yl520ev distributor. Thanks.

Not sure but you could always cheat and get it close with a matchbook

Should be .018 gap with 30* dwell @600-650 rpm.

Re: Dwell for OMC--got that answer, what about timing?

Thanks for the quick responses! What should I set the timing to? As a reminder this is a 1973 OMC 250 hp 5.7 liter inboard. I plan to replace the points, condenser and rotor tomorrow and think I should check the timing. Thanks.

Since dwell affects timing, that would be wise.....;)
