I have a rear bimini top which needs to be dyed to match the front bimini top on my boat. The front is blue and the rear one is white.
What can I use to dye it?
Just plain dye, or is there a special kind of dye for this material?
Has anyone ever done this?
Thanks,
B.C.

Mods: I was not sure where to post this...sorry if it is in the wrong area.

If it's a canvas top.... Auto parts store.. Spray paint section.. You may find spray cans of dye to use on seats, seat belts, ect.....

I used spray cans to dye the canvas for my t-top.... Twas blue, now it's black... Took quite a few cans as I recall... Holding up quite well two+ years later...

Spray can stuff works very well. If the bimini is a lighter weight fabric, like sunbrella, I would think the liquid clothes dye (like RIT brand) would give more complete and equal coverage.

No matter what you use, make sure to waterproof it afterwards. It will prolong the fading, too.

It is not a fabric kind of bimimi. It is leather(I think).
I guess I should have mentioned that in my first post.

Re: Dyeing a bimini top

Does anyone know if "Top Gun" fabric can be dyed? Mine is in excellent shape, but is faded. I am thinking that if I could dye approximately like the old color with good results, I'd do it. I have a large enough container so could actually soak it in dye if necessary. I'm skeptical that spray dye would be even out of cans.
