Anyone have a clue how to get Ebay to answer email or better yet answer the post when you are a dissatified buyer. Long story short, bid on a radar unit ,won it,paid for by wire transfer, never got the unit. Did a look up, male name listed as the user in Wisc. Money was sent to New York to womens name. Called registered user in Wisc. he says theft ID is going on and I'M not the first to call him. So I persued Ebay and filled out 2 forms on line. Also called the both banks and nothing can be done. Called the FBI they said Ebay handles the investigation then deems the correct way to handle. So I'm basically #$%^&((&*%^%$^ hosed. I got complacient buying stuff and got caught with my drawers down. I'll still use Ebay but I'm going to talk with the people and verify everything instead of Email. $1510.00 lesson that I didn't need to learn at that cost. Been over a month now. Worst part aint said anything to the wife yet

That's a bad spot to be in when they won't answer you for sure.

I know it said to allow for x number of days for a response, but after awhile it gets old.

I know that I had a email from what looked like it was from ebay about updating my username and password, but I remembered that it said on their site that they would not ask this through email so I reported it and it came back as a spoof email as they called it.

You got to be real wary of emails anymore and do a double check on the dealings on there.

Hope you get it worked out.

ebay/paypal has some protection now, for purchases made with paypal and paid for by creditcard. For items over $25, I only deal with sellers that accept paypal.

Lots of people must be thinking like I do. If you watch identical items up for bid, the ones that accept paypal will almost always get more, and higher bids.

Holy crapola...

That hurts!

On higher-dollar items, I wait until I get a verified e-mail response before I send any money.
Even then, I verify the seller and their Pay-Pal, Bidpay, etc...

FEEDBACK is the key. Again, on high-dollar items, check their feedback very carefully. If they don't have any or negative, or they are brand new to E-Bay, I DON'T BID.
I might take a chance on a $20 item or so, but a real expensive one? Nope.
And the 'ol saying still stands: If it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

By wire transfer? Do you mean Pay-Pal, or Bid-Pay, or?

If it's Pay-Pal, you're possibly in luck. I've had to turn a few people in for not completing the transaction and I eventually got my money back.

Good luck,

H.

I too recieved a spoof email. It was telling me to update my credit card. I have a freind that lost out big on paypal. The people first tried to charge his cc but it had a $400 limit. They then accessed and billed his bank. By the time he caught it all they had run up $2700. By acting quickly and notifying paypal and ebay they got all but $17 back. You gotta be careful guys, and even then its not enough sometime.

The way I read this problem is that the problem is not with PayPal.

The transaction was made bank to bank. The seller had his ID stolen. I don't think the seller was in on any misdealings.

ot15, I know it doesn't help, but if that guy got his ID ripped off, he's in a world of hurt. That can destroy you.
