Time for new manifolds and I would like to get some opinions on the e-coated vs ceramic coated. The boat has a 7.4l mercruiser mpi and is used in saltwater. or should i just go with osco or Barr?

Thanks

How old is the engine and how long has it been used in salt water?

You could also look at (Mercruiser Parts, Marine Engines, Mercury Outboard Parts, Exhausts | Performance Product Technologies ) there's are ceramic infused on inside and outside. Also there Aluminum and shaved about 40lbs compared to the cast iron batwings they replaced. They also come with a 5 year warranty, as long as you replace the manifold/riser anodes once a year. I have a pair and boat in salt water. So far so good.

I just winterized it a few weeks ago, pulled out one of the anodes and used a bore scope on the inside, looks like new.

Not sure how you use your boat, but I have my own ramp and dock, so I pull it every time I'm done using it and wash the boat and flush the motor, then take it to Wawa and refuel it up.(gas is cheaper then at the dock) So my experience may be different from yours or other members.

The boat is 13 yrs old and stays in saltwater all summer.
I was looking at the aluminum manifolds but not to sure about them living in salt.

Don't go aluminum in salt water, they would not last very long. Ceramic coated should last longer then e-coat but not by a great deal. The issue will mostly happen between the manifold and elbow area until the coating comes off. With the boat being 13 years and the exhaust replacements will probably last another 7 years or so. When needing exhaust again you may be getting into the engine at the same time, with salt it's just a matter of time. I would suggest just going with e-coat it's cheaper unless you go stainless, but that is big bucks.

My boat is 18yrs old, I boat in salt water and that's why I went with aluminum ceramic infused. They are ceramic infused inside and out for Salt Water Use. Go to the web site or even call them, that's why they give it a 5 year warranty. I wanted the best product for salt water use. The kit comes with every thing you need, gaskets, new bolts and sealant for the threads. IF you install as per instructions it should last. And if you think about it your out drive is aluminum with just a thin layer of paint to protect it. Just Saying!!

Is your motor fresh water cooled? If so now would be the time to upgrade to a full closed system. with antifreeze in the manifolds they will last forever. The raw salt water will only be in the heat exchanger and the risers, if you use anodes in them they are good for 7or 8 years at least.
