Hey guys i have an 06' E-Tec 90 HP. I'm in need of some advice as far as cleaning the injectors the motor runs great WOT but idling it runs very poorly jumping and running rough. I'm already aware of changing the plugs but as far as the injectors are there any recommendations for a good fuel additive? I've tried seafoam but may not have added enough to make a difference. Is there an inline hook up that a mechanic can run to clean them out properly or is it just a waiting game with the fuel additive? Any help would be appreciated greatly!!

Re: E-Tec 90

Suggest you go to a dedicated Evinrude E-Tec message board http://www.etecownersgroup.com/.

I run a 2005 75hp & have found that these motors are not user friendly as for owner maintenance. They require computer a program to diagnose & will give history of time ran, RPM/% time ram, # of times started, temps/range of time ran, # of times the injectors have failed & when, etc. etc. & then this program is even needed to set idle RPM.

Great motors, but unless you have the proper equipment & support, best leave it to the proffessionals.

Re: E-Tec 90

Understood thanks for the website. I took an exploratory trip to my marina and talked with my certified mechanic he suggested a new set of plugs and a bottle of seafoam. i dumped the bottle gapped the plugs and indexed them started up and purred great.

Is this the only set of plugs you've put in it since '06 ??

The only set I've personally put in! My mechanic has put in a few sets unsure I would have to look at the service records.

Re: E-Tec 90

What temperature is the motor idling at? If not close to 160?F, then get the thermostat and the pressure relief valve checked over.
