Hi,

I will be repowering in the near future and wanted some feedback from people with the E tecs.
I'm looking to get twin 90's and I'm stuck between yamaha f90's or the E tecs. Everything about the E tec sounds great, but is it "too good to be true"? any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Also, where would be a good place to purchase on the west coast? I live in Hawaii and the prices for the E tecs are through the roof!!
$10,000 each for the 90's. The yammies are $8000.

Thank you very much
Ikaika

Re: E tec feedback...

I think all you need to do is check around the web for E-tec problems and you will find there simply are none of any significance. These engines are now in their third year. If there are problems, the owners are either tight-lipped (not the usual case if one has problems) or there aren't any. Its just a hunch, but I'd bet money the twin E-tecs will blow the hoods off the twin Yammies. Economy should be equal or slightly better. Three year maintenance considerably less (and no oil/filter changes).

Kepp an eye on Powerboat Reports - one of their twin eTec 90s under long-term durability testing just had what might be a major problem on one of them, but it happened too close to the last publication deadline and they reserved judgement on whether is was a powerhead failure or something much less significant. Future issues should clarify.

I've had no problems with mine. It works as advertised, quiet, smooth, starts instantly.

Thanks for the responses, What about prices? What kind of prices are you paying on the US mainland for these? Just want to compare to the local prices here, Its a little high round here.
