E-TEC Water pump

Bought a 2009 boat with 50 HP E-TEC. Seems it was well cared for. Since it is 10 years old, i decided to replace the water pump. I have it apart with new kit in the mail. I was surprised that the impeller is still flexible with minor wear to base plate. Not suggesting you wait 10 years to replace, but it is possible.

my 75 etec impeller was replaced last year after 5-6 years . it was like yours… very flexible and working ok but…


the new one quickly convinced me that I had done a good thing because the water coming out seemed much more profuse

tl the blades probably get set and don't push as much water after a few years

Update. The job is complete and was fairly simple. Did learn a few things that i could share if anyone is interested. The new pump gives a bit more flow. I now have peace of mind that the motor will purr for years to come.

Impeller need changed every 2 yrs...
