Hi I need some help on replacing the shift rod on my evinrude..
I have already removed the l/u and i do have a manual but I don't understand if I can just unscrew the shift rod from the bottom of the gear case or I have to pull the entire casing..
My shift rod is bented just a little..
Can I try to straitened it..
I do have a replacement too..
Which ever easier i guess..
And let me know if I am wrong about the shift rod hight. 21 15/16...
Facing which way...not very clear in manual.
Thanks for the help.
Nicola.

Re: E50tslecc shift rod

The shift rod off set goes to the front and your shift rod measurement is correct. It's been a long time since I worked on one of these but you may try to unthread the shift rod, install the new one and go from there. That is before you take it apart. If this doesn't work it's gear case disassembly time.

Re: E50tslecc shift rod

Sounds good..
So it is possible to unscrew it completely and screw in the new one..
I wasn't sure about that I though maybe the gear link in gear case would move or something and not let me screw new one in....
I would give it a try this saturday and post here the results
