There appears to be a core plug listed for the carb, but I’m not sure of the location — other listers may know.

There is an idle needle valve, and your issues may be a result of incorrect adjustment. Try opening the needle 3 1/2 turns from lightly closed (or what is specified in your manual), then adjusting for best idle after the motor starts and warms up. Adjust leaner initially (clockwise) until the motor lean sneezes or stalls, then adjust counterclockwise about 3/4 turn and see if it smooths out and continues to run.

What was it you adjusted/referenced in post # 13. Maybe the throttle idle adjustment? If you describe it, someone will recognize it.

The leaking primer solenoid will be a problem, imo, until repaired.

from research, the core plug is not on top of carb like 80's and early 90's carbs,, re designed in 93-94, may not be as important to good idle as earlier years,

Did you plug the lines from choke solenoid to take that fuel source completely out of the picture? Just disconnect and put woods screws in the lines temporarily or pinch them off.
