I don't think the third has hatched yet.
Reading the Raptor Forum, I guess dad accidentally pitched the oldest fuzzball from the inner nest yesterday. He whipped his head while feeding the chick chunks of bunny but, unfortunately, the chick already had a beak full and was pitched into outer portions of the nest. Mom eventually got the baby back into the inner nest.

I guess mom took over sitting duties after dad threw baby out of the nest.

It sounds like it was high drama on the Raptor Forum.

I was thinking the feet looked like a small beaver even.
Your guess is probably correct, though, since I don't see anything
that looks like a beaver tail.

Last spring we had the pleasure of a nest of Coopers hawks I think,35' up a tree 20' from our deck out back.They caught alot of frogs and snakes for the little ones along w mice and birds.I wondered how they saw the frogs, they dont move alot.It was facinateing to watch them mature and test their wings,three chicks, and they had some exciteing moments learning to fly.I watched one plummet straight down like a rock when it missed a branch it was hopping to and it opened its wings just before it hit the ground somewhat softly.Then the dogs ran after it and it flapped its wings and got up to a branch 15' off the ground.It was also neat how still covered in down, they would clumsily hop,stand at the edge of the nest turn to face the nest and projectile poop out and away from it!only weeks old and knew not to poop in the nest!!

Could be a muskrat. Sure is windy................

Ive never seen a muskrat that didnt have dark fur or was that large,maybe they're different in Iowa though.

Dad kicked it out and look at it like, "how did you get over there?". Then he quick turned around to see if the wife saw that maneuver. Ma to the rescue...........

Mom did the same thing with Lil' Trouble yesterday. It managed to wobble back in on its own though after he munched on some muskrat tail outside the bowl.
And yeah, the stream has been up and down all morning.

Hilarious how dad looks around to see if anyone was watching. Then mom comes back and says, "Why don't you go out to the garage and play with your tools."
