Can anyone tell me if there is a common failure with the back-lighting in a Z-9000 sonar?<br />

Are you sure it is the backlighting? Is the<br />screen blacker than normal when the unit is off?<br />These LCD screens turn black when left out in the sun. Sometimes, you luck-out and it comes back,sometimes, it is toast. If only one half of the screen elluminates, it is the lightbar on that side. They are a bugger sometimes too replace, but they can be purchased from Eagle.<br />If the entire display is weakly lit, it is a low volt condition. The display will be the first to quit as the battery fades.

Hi 12footer. The unit has internal bulbs all around the LCD display. The bulbs check good but don't come on when you select night light. I contacted Eagle but they seemed more interested in selling me a new one rather than talking 'repairs'. Seems the circuit that turns the bulbs on is intigrated with the large onboard processor. I was hoping to find a miracle cure!! What do you think??!

Does this unit have the "membrane" type of panel? Or does it have actual switches behind the faceplate?<br />If you can, remove the faceplate to get to the back side,where the contacts are (it will look like a printed circuit board.<br />Take a pencil eraser.and rub these contacts until shiny. Believe it or not, I think this is all that is wrong with it....Provided ALL the lights do not function to begin with.<br />My Uniden VHF radio had this type of contacts. Use the eraser on the back side of the button too. It really does work,as ridiculous as this sounds.<br />If cleaning the contacts does not restore it, I'm afraid it may be cheaper to replace the unit.

i can't understand why i can't find these anywhere but here, i bought a boat with the eagle z 9000 but didn't come with instructions

anyone know where to find a copy of the instruction manual as i've tried seaching with no luck.
