I am looking at buying a boat with a early 1980s Mercury 115 Outboard. I can not find anything on if it has power trim or not, could someone tell me? Also if it does not would it be expensive or hard to put power trim on? The owner knows nothing since it is from an estate.

The motor you are vagely describing may or may not have power trim. There is on way to tell from your information. The newer it is, the more likely it will have PTT, IMHO.

If you wanted to install PTT, you would need an aftermarket unit like a CMC. You can google that for price. There is also a chance you could find a blown motor with a good PTT or rebuildable PTT unit.

Thanks I have not been to see it yet so I included everything I knew about it. And wow that is expensive for just trim. Used may be the way to go then. Thanks for the help.

My 1976 115 Mercury came with the PT standard from the factory. I would Assume the newer models would come with it as well

Bonus, PTT was an option on Mercs for a long time. I am not sure if/when they became standard.
