Early power trim pump mounting question

Have a 1971 vintage PTT that I will be installing. The pump unit has a mounting bracket on what I think is the side of the unit.

I have searched for installation instructions with no luck. How important is it to keep the unit vertical? Where and how were these pump units typically mounted?

Anyone got some pictures they could share?

It can be mounted using the bracket attached to the pump. You can mount it any where in the splashwell or through bolt it to the stern. Also, Merc makes a floor bracket... Here's a link to show you what one looks like.

Ed, thats exactly what I needed. Now I see how it mounts and can come up with a suitable bracket.
