I posted recently about the black snake that got into my house. I am happy they dont have these bad boys in my part of NC. We do have them in the eastern part of the state and this picture was taken by some folks we know that were out hunting near Lumberton NC this past week....shezammm One of the guys came close to stepping on him. Another reasonsnake2.jpgsnake.jpg I only hunt fish. They released it after they took a few pictures for you animal lovers to know.

We've got rattlers all over here. They give you plenty of warning but I still hate hearing that sound! Fishing's not always completely free of the poisonous snakes... we've got water moccasins around here, too.

That is a canebrake rattler(timber rattler) not a diamond back......cool early fall is when they are most active during the day. They don't like hot weather and will lay low in summer and hunt at night. They are not as aggressive as the DB and pretty docile if left alone.
