One tip on the box anchor - make sure you safety wire the shackle pin in. I don't know why they don't do this from the factory, but they can eventually fall out leaving you with just the rope and rod.

they sure are ugly but they work...
Agree that. One of the reasons I am apologizing to all of those I have smirked at is that I literally felt that the emergence of a box type anchor from an anchor locker automatically branded the owner as a wannabe.

And, for clarity, I love to fish, especially saltwater, but I don't fish off my main squeeze. I have a tinny that my kids use to fish sometimes, but I discourage it on the day cruiser. She's too pretty for fish guts.

I wouldn't worry about it, 90% of the ski boat owners would be wanna he's under that description. We would have just branded the detractors as having never used one. Next you need to try some green eggs and ham.

I've used a new Slide Anchor brand box anchor the last few times we've been out. It is far and away the most effective anchor I've ever used for the way we boat. In many of the places we anchor, it is just not practical to have 5:1 or greater scope out and this box anchor seems to simply lock to the bottom with barely a 2:1. Couldn't be happier with it.

Have you seen the polished stainless steel version of the Box Anchor. It is not an ugly anchor.
QC, I'm glad to see you've been converted. One of the benefits of mine is that it folds up flat and stores really well, on my boat We don't anchor much but it always works well when it's needed. Far better for my wake boat than any other that I've tried.
