Bought a boat, motor and traiker a couple of years ago, and the guy threw in an old Eatons Viking 5 hp motor, which he said was running. Any idea what the oil/gas ratio should be? Any idea what year this bad boy was made? (model #0267) Thanks.
most engines with todays synthetic marine oil blends can be run at 50-1 ratio. you can run a 32-1 or a 40-1 ratio the easiest way to check if your engine is running with the correct fuel ratio is to run it starting with the 32-1 ratio and doing a plug check after you havre run it awhile. you should be looking for a chocalate brown color on the plug tips, excessive oil will foul the plugs usually leaving a darker color almost black. the plugs should also be clean no oil build up. hope this helps you out.
IF it is a C2G7 you should run 16:1 oil ratio. It was built by Gale probably in the 40s.
If we can't get the numbers a picture will be worth a 1000 words.
