eBay Alternator

My alternator is dead weight... It always shows the voltage of the battery while running and I have to charge the battery every about every 4 hours of use I think it's safe to say it's dead. I see most OEM replacements are available through iboats and others... They seem to run. 170-200.


So I saw the below on eBay and need a sanity check. Has anyone bought a similar cheapie like this? Should I stay away or be concerned for spending so little money on something like this?

the pully and the spark arresting screen are worth that much, go for it.GM 3 wire.

I got one from these guys last year, working great, don't know how they sell em that cheap. It wouldn't be worth my time for that kinda money to build and sell:

I have one too and it works fine. The + post wasn't in the right position for my wiring harness and I had to pull the 4 case bolts to rotate the back housing. No big problem, except the back screen tin was very very close to the bolt heads and I had to hammer a socket onto the bolts to remove them.

Also, the pulley on my old alt was a deep groove pulley and the new alt's pulley is a shallow groove. AGAIN no biggie,,,, until I tried to put the belt on the alt and the alt bottomed out adjustment bracket. A trip down the the parts store for a belt solved that. I was a bit concerned that the shallow groove pulley would throw the belt, but I haven't had any problems after 100 hours+. I actually like the smaller pulley now as it spins the alt faster and allows my trolling motor batteries to charge up better, while I'm trolling off the main engine.

I bought one from them as well.... a couple of the screws had some damage, but it functions great and was a heck of a lot cheaper than anywhere else

I got one as well. No issues in shipping, design or anything else for that matter. Mine has about 15 hours on it so far.
