Was trolling around ebay today and noticed a lot of engine (cowling) covers for sale, a disproportionate number considering the other OB parts for sale.

Is there a message here or am I just reading something into this?

You are reading into it............

When a motor gets parted out normally the cowling is one of the last parts to go and usually in the best shape.

Now....... if you ever NEED a new engine cover for your motor......... there will never be a matching listing on ebay LOL :p

Okaye, grin....thought maybe the cowling was just easy prey for the sticky fingered crowd.

Thanks,

I think I'd find something a bit more valuable to steal if I were so inclined.

The thought occurred due to the ease of removal and availability.

No one has ever accused a thief of being smart, that is the first thing I thought too.

Re: ebay curiousity

On thief's being smart: I had a mattress delivered to my house recently. The two guys were middle aged and tattoo's all over them. They came and picked up the old mattress casing the house while inside. Outside I saw them chatting.

They came in with the new mattress and set it on the bed. Handed me the bill for delivery in a sealed envelope (never had that happen, but it is a convenient way to keep you occupied while they plied their trade) and in the process one said, not "may I use your bathroom", but: I need to go the bathroom and darted in the BR and locked the door. Course, living in the country with a 160 cedar live fence, outside would have functioned adequately for one in need....but this guy was not in need of relief, of that nature.

On their way out they did a lot of chattering and got in their truck and did more chattering and finally left.

Upon inspection of the cabinets in the BR, the commode was never flushed and all the cabinets were ajar.

Buttttt. Tough luck suckers as no (prescription) drugs nor jewelry were present in the BR.

Better luck next time. Naw, next time I will go to the mattress store and bring it home myself.

HTH's someone.

I hope you contacted the store where you bought the mattress.

I have also wondered why you'd need a new one anyway; they don't just blow off on the water or the highway, although I suppose they could get damaged.
