Just one more comment on the feedback issue. If you are not happy with the purchase, give the guy a chance to make it right. And if he does make it right, especially without a hassle, he deserves a positive feedback. I have bought a couple of items that were not as advertised because the seller just didn't know. In both instances a full refund was given, including shipping.

"If you are unhappy, tell me."
"If you are happy, tell the world"

Have to agree with this take. I sold a Tivo machine a couple months ago because I replaced it with a satellite DVR. The Tivo worked great when I last used it, but it took me a couple weeks to list the machine on Ebay, so the machine sat collecting a little dust before it was listed. Finally I listed the Tivo and I was rewarded with a satisfying offer. About a week after I shipped the Tivo, the buyer contacted me saying the machine would not turn on. I immediately refunded his money back because I am proud of my 100% feedback rating. Most importantly, I was grateful that the buyer was patient enough with me to allow me a chance to make the situation right. Sometimes people assume the worst and believe they are being ripped off, but in reality the seller was not aware of any problems and is eager to resolve the issue.

Bottom line, buyer beware on Ebay, but do give the seller a chance to make a bad situation right. While there are some bad sellers, there are also a lot of good sellers on Ebay.

I concur with all that is said. I have made purchases albeit the majority have been small stuff but I did purchase a truck a couple of years ago. Heart stopping is right buying an item from Texas and shipping to Canada but what an experience. It got me hooked. Fortunately all eBay experiences have been great.
Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a used boat? Don't know if I will be buying sight unseen though.

I've bought and sold quite a bit with E-bay.
Have only had 2 bad experiences thus far.
1 guy was an out-right crook and was revoked by E-bay for participating ever again.
Another I bought a "guy toy" from a woman that I honestly believe was clueless (maybe blond?).
Most generally, I'm very pleasantly surprised at what is received.
Definitely look over the seller's ratings, ask questions, etc.
Sometimes a delayed response will turn me off.
E-net stores send me a bright cautionary fluorescent yellow flag.
I generally prefer private sellers.
And use the Paypal Card Plan. They'll back you up if need be. Takes awhile, but at least things get righted if the need arises.
