Re: Economy

Everyone in here wants government to control this or not control this and everyone is missing the point. Everything that goes on in this country, whether it is economy or who is in power is controlled by us. The common people. Wages are paid as they are because we the common people accept it. We are only given the benefits that the corp wants to give because we accept it. Gas is at the price it is because we continue to buy it. Once everyone realizes where the problem is, then maybe we can fix it but probably not because it will be a painful fix. Guaranteed. The blame is squarely on our shoulders and the fix is in our hands.

Well, txs. Since you are so well informed, please tell us Exxon-Mobil's whole picture for 2005.

Gross revenue?
Gross profit?
Dividends?
Capitalization?
R&D into alternative energy sources?
Ethanol?
Solar?
Hydrogen?
Bio fuels?

Where is the %25 profit?
What stockholder received no dividend?

You are so fond of demonizing everybody except Hillary and her gang you must have started believing that bovine scatology.

Re: Economy

Well, JB, Exxon-Mobil was able to clear about $10-billion in 2005. However, they apparently didn’t clear enough to pay the $5-billion fine for the fiasco they cause in Alaska a few years back with Valdez oil spill. Ain’t paid a dime on it yet. Nor have they paid a dime on the cost of the clean up, all of that expense still rests with the tax payers. Maybe Exxon-Mobil isn’t a good example for much of anything.

Auto industry: there was a thread about Ford hurtin’ for capital, I mentioned that the auto industry doesn’t go in the red, actual revenue. Instead they post how much they are off from projected revenue. Well, Ford just posted higher than estimated earning for last quarter. So did GM and Daimler-Chrysler. None of them are hurting.

Re: Economy

If the US automakers were doing so great why are they closing plants and laying people off? When they have lay-offs and close plants their bottom line generally improves, profits go up % wise but but the gross and net renenue goes down.

Re: Economy

Jb, I can actually find most of this information, however the task would be time consuming and much of the information would be based on figures provided by Exxon.

As to dividend per share, I will be glad to give you those amounts as soon as mine come in. I do not invest based on profitability of the company but on the horse race as to what other persons may perceive to be the value.

And your numbers $100 billion etc came from where you say.

exxon...ticker symbol XOM (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=xom)

yahoo finance says they paid $1.28 per share...so what? now you need to know how many shares are outstanding but none of it matters. if you want to change exxon, you better buy a bunch of shares. you can control them, it is possible in our society.

txs...reads like you just want to control everything. there's no rhyme or reason other than things don't make sense to you and should be done according to your whims.

market controls and legislation have shown throughout history to be bad for business. then to top it off, you want to penalize the successful because it doesn't agree with you. what happens to our economy when the rewards are taken away, where the incentive to do better and achieve?

what's so bad about our country again?
