Edelbrock 1409 question...

Got the boat running again after it got a bath. Oil's now clean. Still running like crap, looked down the carb throat and see it dribbling on both sides. Anything that would cause that aside from needle/seat or float issues? Just trying to gauge whether I'll need a complete carb rebuild or can just deal with the top half...

Get a gasket and pull it apart. The gasket should be available at your local NAPA.

Also, if you read the literature from Edelbrock, they recommend soaking only in Simple Green to preserve the coatings on the carb. If you flush with carb cleaner you will find that nice gold coating washed off.

I've seen that about the carb cleaner. "get a gasket and pull it apart". You mean just take the top off? Or carb/intake gasket and pull the whole thing apart? Haven't taken the bottom half of this apart yet...

Pull it out of the boat and pull it apart on the bench. Get is clean. You filled it with brack.

I knew you were going to say that. I've got a couple of weeks at home before I get back, I'll pull it and bring it back tomorrow.

yes, get both a base to manifold gasket and a top gasket

pull the carb off, put it on the bench (in a catch basin). pull it apart and remove the fish and other flotsam
