I know I have asked this before .. but is there a way to Show when a member Edits a post ( time/day ) ?

I ask again because sometimes there is an issue with conversations that get misconstruded with Blind edits.

It would be nice to at least show that a member Edited a post after an ongoing conversation.

Just to keep things on an equal playing field ..

Re: Edit time stamps :)

I edited your post, sorta. When someone edits their post they can put info in the "reason for editing" box which will time stamp the edit.....

The edit time and date only show when a member notes a reason for the edit.

Yes I do understand this.

However as you can see ( or not see if your a regular member ) I have edited my OP.

Im just suggesting that it would be nice if the post reflected that edit.

The "reason for edit" should still be Optional .. but the post should still be noted that it was indeed edited. You could have a "No reason given" as a standard if there is nothing put in the field. I hope this helps.

Thanks for reviewing my suggestion .. :)

In my opinion it should stay that way. I often go back and make spelling corrections. No need to have an edit notation every time for something like that.

Yes .. and sometimes members go back and make a deletion. .. not just a spelling problem.

I can Left Click and have a check spelling ..

Im not suggesting that every other member that cant spell .. or has the intuitive of going back to later post to check his or her spelling .. its the Complete Deletion of a sentence or post that made me make this Thread.

What would be the problem if you had 3 lines of "edited by Bruceb for no reason given" .. it actually shows that you are aware of "spelling" and will take the time to edit your post :) ..

Most of us wont give a darn with our spelling ..

I dont think the edit notification is for those that feel bad about not spelling.. And I dont think its right to allow members to continually change a post at a whim. .. yes some do this..

I doubt that happens very often. Even if it does happen at times, why is that such a big deal?

I am on quite a few blogs that use this blog software. This is the first time I have ever see anyone complain about this set up.

EDIT: And I have made at least 3 changes in this very post. Not sure why that makes a difference.

I can see YACHT DR's point. Lets be honest...sometimes a thread can get a little heated. If someone is in one of those "heated" discussions they can go back and edit his/her previous posts to make the other person look like a complete fool or jerk(lack of cussing). Thus creating more frustration and potential issues among fellow members.

If it isn't happening already, the only thing that could be done is to not allow the editing of a post after a certain time frame. It may be happening now, I forget... Even if a time stamp is set up whenever a member edits their post, we can't force a member to give a reason why.

At that point, if not before, a Mod would probably step in.........

My suggestion is just for the time stamp of any edit.

I think it would be a good thing IMHO ..

If its shot down ..then so be it .. if its considered and implemented then great.

Its just a suggestion :) ..

Thanks for your suggestion YD. Unfortunately there are to many scripts that would need to be modified to do this and I just don't see it really helping out the community. Appreciate your suggestions and feedback. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
