The boat I'm fixing up has the carpet removed and is just a bare fiberglass floor.

I want to apply a non-skid surface to the floor. I was thinking about bed liner kits but they are all in black and are kinda rough too.

I have some leftover Cool Seal elastomeric roof coating for RVs. The stuff is white and dries to a slightly rubberized coating. I was wondering if I could mix in some non-skid material or even some fine sand?

I could just use deck paint with non-skid mixed in but I don't know if it will be thick enough to really seal in the bare fiberglass floor and smooth out any roughness from the fiberglass. I don't want any chance of fiberglass splinters with bare feet.

I've seen tintable bed liner kits available for about $20 more than the standard black. You buy the tint separate from the kit. Try UAP or NAPA auto stores. If I remember correctly it was available in red green blue and white. That stuff is great if you can get it.

The answer to your question is Yes..you can add nonskid to elasto. ( ive done it on a couple roofing jobs )

Is elasto compatible with your fiberglass ? hmm..dunno never tryed it myself. might peel after awhile..might not..

I would for sure use the membrane that you would normaly use with elasticote though.

YD.

I looked at the floor again, the elastomeric stuff is just not tnick enought to smooth out the bare fiberglass floor and seal any potential fiberglass splinters.

Bed liner is the way to go. Either a light colored liner or black and paint it white.

Plus, I don't think the elastomeric stuff will hold up to constant foot traffic. It's ok on RV roofs with occasional walking only.

DURABAK is the best.
I am going on 2 seasons and it still looks like new. I go barefoot and it is not hard on the feet at all.
Good luck
