Trying to wire in my Edelbrock Marine 600 with electric choke and I cant seem to find any 12v sources. I know the coil is one but I read alot about not going to that and I remember don or somebody in another post mentioning the alternator ac post or something but if I was going to use the alternator what wire would I tap into? I have the main wire and a smaller red/stripe and a purple wire. The only wire not having power with the key off is the purple. Does this wire have power when the alt is moving?

The Purple wire is to the ignition and that is the wire Mercruiser uses to power up the electric choke.
I like using the AC tap on the alternator just so the choke isn't being heated when the engine is not running and the ignition is on.
Should say on the alternator which one is the AC tap.

Where would it say it? Its a mercury Mando alt. a red with purple stripe wire and a purple wire are coming out of a grommet on top of the alt. Should I just go ahead and use the purple?
