What kind of an anchor switch should I order that will let the anchor down and then bring it up when I haven't caught in fish in that spot. I know there are four posts on the switch one is positive in and one is negative and then two go to the anchor motor. I've looked on I boats and the ones labeled anchor might mean anchor light because the are just two posts.

You need a DPDT switch with off in the center and momentary in each of the other 2 directions.

Thank you so much. I went to my local marina and they sold me the wrong switch. Kind of scary.. they do all my boat repair work other than the minor stuff I try to do.

Ayuh,.... 'n it depends on the winch motor, 'n the current it draws,...

Many use solenoids to reverse the power, rather than the switch Bruce posted,...

Agreed...

How much current does your motor draw?

So how was the motor operated before? Did it always use a switch and it failed?

What's the model?

Kinda need to know more info because we don't know if the switch controls a set of relays or actually controls the motor directly.

The old one stopped working. The switch has four posts. The top two are pos and neg from the battery and the bottom two go to the motor. It is raining in Texas today but will go out and get info from the motor if we don't float away by the rare rain.

Any markings on the switch about current rating?
