I just traded my Sportrac for an '05 F150. I had a Prodigy brake controller in the sportrac which I'm going to install in the F150 which has the trailer towing package. I was checking the round 7 pin connector and it is plugged into the vehicle wiring harness up by the spare tire. My question which I can't seem to get a very convincing answer to is, is the vehicle alreadly wired for electric brakes and I only have to add my controller or do I have to completly run new wiring back to the 7 pin connector? BTW there are 8 wires coming out of the back of the round connector.

If the truck has an OEM tow package the wiring is there. All you need is the harnesse to connect the controller to the truck. Not sure about Fords, but on a Chevy the connector is by the parking brake

info above is dead on .... where I work we install brake controls on a daily basis .... the wiring harness to connect the Prodigy to your truck may have come with it when it was new and may or may not still be in the truck .... if not, replacements are readily available

If it is the same as the 2003 that I had - the wiring was all there but a couple of relays had to be popped into the fusebox so that the power made it to the 7 pin. Best bet is to buy a direct fit harness from techonsha that plugs straight from your truck to the prodigy - lot nicer than having to splice the factory pigtail to the prodigy pigtail.

Thanks guys. I'll have a look tomorrow and pick up the harness for the Prodigy.

Again, thanks guys. Found the plug under the dash and my controller is wired in and working. Going fishing Friday and will fine tune the controller on the way to the lake.
