Final steps of my engine swap. I have a 4bbl quadrajet for my 350 sbc. New motor has a edelbrock high rise intake that doesnt have any "choke brackets of any kind". The old engine (283, with stock intake) had the choke port on the side. Now i want to convert it to electric choke..

Whats the difference between the standard kits to the marine kits?? I seem to be having a hard time finding the marine kits online..

Thanks

I have the adapter plate for the spread bore to square bore... So any quadrajet 4bbl electric choke kit will work?? (doesnt have to be marine?)

Re: electric choke conversion question

turns out apparantly there is no electric choke that will work for my application... My quadrajet is the divorce choke system and the electric choke kit mounts to the manifold. My edelbrock high rise has no spot to mount this kit???

Any ideas or suggestions? (not buying a new intake or carb)

Re: electric choke conversion question

So tie the choke open and run without it. The choke on my 350 mag took far too long to come off, after waisting $25 on new choke thermostst that didnt work any better I just tied it open and run without it . Just pump the throttle and nurse it along for the first 2 minutes , no problem.

Re: electric choke conversion question

I went from a divorced choke on my Merc 228 w/QJ to a manual choke because I didn't want to spend $60-plus on either the replacement bi-metal choke spring OR the electric choke conversion (which still uses a bi-metal spring). To me, something that will eventually wear out again and probably never function 100% properly wasn't worth the money. I fabbed up a small choke cable bracket and ran a choke cable inside my stbd gunwale shelf. It's hidden, and only used when necessary in starting up in cool temperatures. Works 100% of the time, will never wear out, and cost about 10 bucks.
