How this electric choke work.. i know i have to connect it to a positive charge..

i try to test it but it will not do or move. nothing.

i connected the negative charge to the frame. and the positive to the choke. . nothing moves... i have two brant new Rochester 2BL Carb. and none of the choke moves.

Also. from my last post. i ask where to connect this electric choke. and you guys said to the Coil..

my coil dont have a ballast resistor..
i trace the wires and they connect to little bolt on the side of the Engine Starter??

never install electric choke..

From what i heard. electric choke on a boat stay close and the choke slowy open when the Bi-Metal Heats up .. But when i connect both of the carb to the battery directly it will not open.. should i let it stay connected for a few second??

Re: Electric CHOKE ! How it work !

I am not super familiar with that carb, but electric chokes connect to a 12 volt + source while in the run position, so they get power only when the engine is running and the alternator is making power. They don't snap open in a second, as the bi-metalic coil takes time to warm up and allow the choke to open. I don't know the engine you are working on. When they are cold they are in a closed position and when they warm up, they should slowly open. Find a 12 volt + source and be patient.

The electric choke will take a few minutes to open up.
